Signed in, you can also write to us from the app: Profile, then Help and contact, then Send us a message. Include your participant number if you have one, and please do not send medical records or test results. For a specific study, name it in your message.
Your account and your data
Pause. “Opt out of studies” under Profile, Preferences stops matching and study contact without deleting anything.
Download. “Download my data” under Profile, Account gives you a copy of everything OA holds about you.
Delete. In the iPhone app, Profile, then Delete account; on the web, Profile, Account. Deletion is immediate and removes your account on every device.
Common questions
How does OA work?
You build one profile: who you are, where you live, and the health information you choose to share. OA compares it with the requirements of each study and shows you the ones you may be eligible for. You then decide, study by study, whether to request to join.
Who can see my health information?
You, and the OA staff who run the platform. A study team only sees your profile after you request to join their study, and only for that study. OA never sells your information and never uses it for advertising. The Privacy Policy has the details, including your rights under state consumer health data laws.
What happens after I request to join a study?
The study team reviews your request and may contact you, using the channels you allowed, for a short screening call or questionnaire. They confirm whether you qualify and walk you through the study’s own consent form before anything starts. You can withdraw at any point, including after enrolling.
How and when do I get paid?
Each study sets its own compensation and shows it on the study page, along with the time it takes. Payment is made by the study team according to that study’s terms, usually after the visit, sample or survey is complete. OA does not pay you for your data itself.
Can I take a break, or delete everything?
Yes. Under Profile, Preferences, “Opt out of studies” pauses matching and contact without deleting anything. Under Profile, Account you can download a copy of your data or delete your account outright. Deletion is immediate.
